Tofu Wastewater Used to Produce Biogas in Indonesia

Tofu, which is made from curdled soybean milk, is one of Indonesia's staple foods. Its small-scale production in farms throughout the country leaves behind polluted and foul-smelling wastewater. In the tiny village of Kalisari, this wastewater is collected from 150 small producers and transformed into biogas in digester tanks. The village and its residents have reaped many benefits from this methanation process, including a cleaner village and access to energy.
