Carbon Capture and Storage

How do you capture carbon dioxide emitted by industrial plants and store it over the long term? The first step consists in separating the carbon dioxide from the other flue gases, particularly nitrogen and vapor water. The carbon dioxide is then transported by pipeline, boat or tank truck to a storage site, where it is injected into a deep underground formation beneath an impermeable layer of rock, such as a depleted oil/natural gas reservoir or an aquifer.
