While reducing carbon dioxide ( ) emissions is one way to slow down , another option consists in capturing, storing and even reusing this gas. However, the technologies used in this process are still far from mature – particularly in terms of cost – and require further research and testing. This video explains, in very simple terms, how CO2 can be isolated, transported and stored in deep geological formations. It can also be used to produce fuels, plastics, cement and chemical products. Together, these techniques are often referred to as carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS).
