François Moisan

Executive Director of Strategy & Research at ADEME

François Moisan is the Executive Director of Strategy, Research & International Affairs, and Scientific Director at the French Environment & Energy Management Agency (ADEME). He is in charge of research and innovation at the Agency, particularly in the areas of investment for the future, economic expertise and international affairs. François Moisan is an expert in energy efficiencyIn economic terms, energy efficiency refers to the efforts made to reduce the energy consumption of a system... and renewable energyEnergy sources that are naturally replenished so quickly that they can be considered inexhaustible on a human time scale... . As well as having spent much of his career at the ADEME, he has been a member of various international bodies committed to energy efficiency.

For example, he has led the World Energy Council's Energy Efficiency Policies Knowledge Network since 1998 and currently chairs the Executive Committee of International Partnership for Energy Efficiency Cooperation (IPEEC).

From 1996 to 1998 he was Chairman of the "2010-2020 energy outlook for France'" committee set up by the French General Plan Commission.

He then went on to chair the Energy Efficiency Working Party at the International Energy Agency from 2002 to 2005 and the European Council for an Energy Efficient Economy from 2001 and 2005.

Lastly, he was a member of the French delegation to the United Nations for climate change negotiations between 1997 and 2004.

François Moisan has a degree in electrical engineering from Ecole Supérieure d'Electricité de Paris (1972) and a PhD in economic science from the University of Grenoble, France (1983).
