A school with 39 pupils has declared itself the first fully sustainable school in Latin America. Designed by a Uruguayan NGO and a North American architect, the school is built from tires, bottles and other waste items and powered by solar panels. It also features a water filtration device and its own vegetable garden. Alongside traditional classes, the school teaches pupils good environmental habits.
