"Total Green School Awards": rewarding creative energy
Because it is important to instill respect for the environment as early as possible, Total’s British subsidiary (Total Holdings UK) encourages schools to take part in the “green” education of children. To achieve this, it set up the Total Green School Awards in 2007, awarding prizes to reward the best initiatives in this area.
Every year, thousands of school students find out about the world around them, in class or on field-trips to gardens or lakes, for instance. Once their awareness is raised, they learn to be responsible about their environment - sorting waste, saving energy, setting up kitchen gardens, etc.

To encourage them, Total Holdings UK rewards the best educational projects at the end of each year. The scheme has been an enormous success, with 21,000 children and their teachers winning prizes in 2010-2011! Castle Park Primary School in Wales won the latest national prize (see photo).
Did you know?
Throughout the world, more and more schools are teaching “green” habits to children. In Bali, Indonesia, a 100% “Green” school opened in 2008! Its 120 students are learning not only their 3 Rs, but also to respect the environment, in particular by looking after their garden.
