Who is producing, who is consuming?

Geothermal Power- Underground Energy

09/08/2010

Geothermal power is a little different than other renewable energy sources. It is
inexpensive, making it attractive to emerging countries for electricity and heat production. In Europe, Italy is the leader in terms of primary energy produced.

Globally Accessible Energy

The largest producing countries are those located in active volcanic regions, because it uses underground heat. This particularity means that many countries that have little involvement with other energy markets- such as the Philippines, Indonesia, and Iceland- use this energy source.

Italy Dominates European Production

Italy alone accounts for 77% of the production of primary energy from geothermal sources for electricity and heating in Europe.
