Who is producing, who is consuming?

Biofuels Fill up

09/08/2010

There is considerable political backing for biofuels (through tax incentives for example), and these are set to expand rapidly. Ethanol (80% of global production) and biodiesel are the mainstays of this market, and Europe is ranked third behind the United States and Brazil in terms of production.

The United States - The Number 1 Producing Country

United States and Brazil are the world's main ethanol producers. In contrast to Europe, the gasoline market is much larger in these countries than the diesel (biodiesel) market.

Biodiesel accounts for a large share of fuel produced in the European Union. The three main producers are France, Germany, and Italy.

Ethanol- The Most Widely Used Biofuel

The United States, Brazil and Europe are the leading consumers and producers of ethanol.

Europe is the leading consumer and producer of biodiesel. It is followed by the United States and Brazil, which are also ranked 2nd and 3rd among producing countries.
