Energy Efficiency- a Challenge for Today and for the Future
06/10/2010Humanity uses more and more energy in its quest for development. However, we need to acknowledge the gradual dwindling of fossil fuel sources (oil, coal, and natural gas) and the new stakes in the fight against global warming.
It is now not only possible, but necessary to reconcile satisfying energy needs and protecting the environment. To do this, we can use renewable energy sources, but we can also find better ways to use available fuel and electricity - which is the aim of energy efficiency. This approach means preserving energy resources; and it is one of the main ways of reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. In Europe, commitments made by public authorities and industry stakeholders since the 1970s have already achieved significant energy savings; but there is still a lot we can do to make the producing goods and services less energy-intensive.
Did You Say Energy Efficiency?
With fossil fuels becoming increasingly rare, we now need to save energy while meeting growing demand.
